Improvement in Structure and Visible Light Catalytic Performance of g-C3N4 Fabricated at a Higher Temperature

A highly-efficient graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) photocatalyst for visible light photodegradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and methyl orange (MO) simulating dyeing wastewater was synthesized by the thermal polycondensation melamine. The photocatalysts were characterized TG-DTG-DSC, XRD, EA, XPS, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, BET, PL UV-vis DRS. results showed that photocatalytic performance g-C3N4 at a higher calcination temperature significantly enhanced, its activities RhB MO remarkably improved 64.91% 41.83%, respectively, which mainly attributed to satisfactory crystallinity, stable graphene-like structure, large surface area, excellent optical properties. It found •O2− radicals •OH main active species process free trapping experiments ESR analysis. mechanism proposed predicated using characterization results.
